Confessions of a Superhero.
I first heard about this movie at brunch with my sister and her friend TJ. TJ is a character herself: a cougar with a hot little red Porsche who loves to show us photos of her newest designer pumps on her iPhone, she lives behind Hollywood and Highland. She says ones of the Spidermans (Spidermen?) regularly pees behind her dumpster.
A couple of months ago, we were walking to TJ's apartment after brunch, and we came to a full-stop before a trio of Johnny Depps -- there was a Jack Sparrow, Sweeney Todd, and a Depp Willy Wonka, all shooting the shit in front of Grauman's Chinese Theater. We stood there in the sunshine, blinking, only a little drunk, trying to process the image.
This movie is basically 90 minutes of that.

I did not know until today that heads could explode in slow motion. Am tempted to take firecrackers to my eustachian tubes just to get this over with. Dizzy and off balance. As a result, have not gotten any drawing done today, save for Year In Waiting #11, which is messier than usual due to my current inability to focus my vision.
It's frightening to lose that ability, however briefly. I hope this runs its course quickly.

I just got an email from someone claiming they commissioned several pieces from me - two badges and a 9-character chibi pic - at Ohayocon, and they're wondering where the art is.
...but when I work cons, I don't take commissions I can't finish, I don't take commissions over 3 or 4 characters, and I don't take payment in advance*. I also haven't done a chibi commission since 2007.
Does anybody who was at Ohayocon happen to know anything about this? I have no doubt this person's legit; I just think they have the wrong guy.
God, I'm in a total panic. I have this insane fear of getting a bad rep or letting people down, ESPECIALLY when it comes to art. Seriously, my palms are sweating. :(**

* well, not unless I knew the person and had their contact info before the con anyway, and even then I've done it 3 times in 10 years
** I CAN BE A LITTLE NEUROTIC IN CASE YOU HAD NOT FIGURED THAT OUT BY NOW
ETA: I just went through my sketchbook from Ohayocon and there's no record of any commission like this :/ I should trust myself more...

Went to bed late and woke up around 4, so tonight I'm just going to crash out. Had a social life during the week, so this weekend is all about drawing. (Hey, who are these kids?)
BTW, I'm going to try and do some more of those sketch commission requests - starting with ohnoes_mischief, vejiicakes, itcomesinphases, and mooncalf.

Sometimes I look back and dislike how I reuse themes and concepts. I was looking back at my older stuff and somehow things seemed fresher...Sometimes it feels like I am a one trick pony orz.

EDIT: s-so I downloaded some of the later BOTI chapters on a whim to p-prepare for epic Dahn/Akane, and I find out Makie is spoiler spoiler spoiler. W-whaaaat. She and Anotsu are another tragic OTP forever. sob sob.

I'd never really thought about this before I started writing the Lacunae, but With A Bullet, like The Morning Star, contains exactly one 'fade to black' scene. Simon's gunshot wound prevents most of the usual shenanigans for most of the book, and then just when that particular dam gets unstuck, Jeremy's own, uh, 'issues' begin... somehow I managed to go almost five hundred pages and only overtly indicate sexual activity once.
Which is a damned shame, because With A Bullet's narrative differences give me the freedom to finally do this (NSFW):
